Emerging Artist: Enacio

Submitted by admin on April 6, 2009 – 11:42 am2 Comments

Local Gold Coast trio Enacio have been the talk of the town of late. They rocked the local stage at the Gold Coast Big Day Out in January 2009 and are set to perform at the Caxton Street Seafood and Wine Festival in Brisbane next month. I caught up with lead singer Matt Buckly to see what’s been crackin in the world of Enacio.

1. What’s the story so far for Enacio, how did the band form?

E: We all got together to play at a mates 19th pirate pool party three years ago, and for a bit of fun decided to get together and try writing some of our own music. Since then we have written many songs, played heaps of shows and saved every penny earned to put towards recording our debut album.

2. Who came up with the name Enacio and what does it mean?

E: Its funny, you would think that there would be some weird explanation or story behind the name but really we just simply made it up.

3. Enacio’s sound is very unique, who are your influences?

E: There is a massive scale of influences for us, each three of us have different musical backgrounds and ideas for the types of music that we would love to write. From the very beginning we told ourselves that we would put no limitations on the style of music that we write, if we start a song at one point there is no knowing where the song could end up once the three of us have come together.

Bands that have an influence over us would be: Led Zeppelin, Rage Against the Machine, Silverchair, The Police, Cog plus many more.

4. You guys played at the Big Day Out early this year drawing in a pretty impressive crowd, fill me in on the experience of playing your first gig at one of the biggest music festivals in Australia?

E: It was a dream come true for the band. Three years ago when we formed, we went to the Big Day Out together and said to each other that one day that will be us on that stage. Could not have asked for a better turn out, considering that we are a local band with no commercial play as of yet.

5. Recording-wise, does Enacio have any plans for 2009?

E: We have recently just finished recording two singles down at Loose Stones Studios in Burleigh Heads with Producer Matt Bartlem, alongside well known Australian Producer Forrester Saville, (The Butterfly Effect, Karnivool, Human Nature, Delta Goodrem) who mixed and mastered our tracks. They should be out for release at the end of April alongside with video clip and tour. We are hoping to play more shows and save money to complete the album.

6. You guys have a number of gigs coming up, including the Caxton Street Seafood and Wine festival in Brisbane, playing alongside some pretty big names, you guys must be pumped on that. Tell us the details of where and when you are playing? As well as any other gigs you have lined up?

E: Our shows are currently booked through the Pushworth Group and they have offered many good shows and we are pumped to play the seafood and wine festival in Brisbane which is on the 3rd of May, we hit the stage at 6:30pm, playing alongside Dukes of Windsor, Kram, Kevin Borich and the Winnie Coopers.

Other than that, at this stage we are hosting our own shows, Easter Sunday at Swell Tavern at Burleigh Heads and on the 9th of May we play at the Miami Shark Bar.

7. Any last words for the lovers of Enacio?

E: For fans of Enacio, good times are ahead, as we are in the process of releases and planning tours throughout Australia for 2009.
