Fleet Foxes, The Streets, draw big crowds on third day of Glastonbury.
Seatle-based folk group Fleet Foxes drew huge crowds for their afternoon set at the annual Glastonbury Festival, debuting two new songs to the eager audience.
As seen on the photo to the left, a mass audience were gathering even before the event started, with frontman Robin Pecknold publicly announcing that he was “terrified” of the crowd when the group walked onto stage.
The group induced mass-singalongs to songs such as “White Winter Hymnal” and “Blue Ridge Mountains”, with the audience mostly chilling out on the damp grass, which was recovering from mass downpours the night before.
Luckily the rain had cleared by the time Fleet Foxes had graced the stage, and the audience warmed to their two new songs, both remain untitled, but show off Fleet Foxes’ signature harmonies and mellow guitar riffs.
Also drawing a huge crowd and mass-singalongs, Birmingham’s The Streets paid tribute to the late Michael Jackson on the Jazz World stage.
Frontman Mike Skinner said he was “honoured” to play the biggest festival in the world, receiving a roar of applause for the enigmatic performer, as he jumped into the crowd to perform “Everything is Borrowed”.
The audience got moving and shouting to tracks like “Blinded by The Lights” and “Dry Your Eyes”, with many punters calling The Streets’ set the best of the day.
Lily Allen also showed her respect for the King of Pop by wearing a single white glove during her strange performance, with her excuse being she was “shitting herself” before gracing the stage.
Donning a purple wig, and a low cut v-neck t-shirt, which left fans gasping in shock after the singer nearly suffered a wardrobe malfunction.
Allen protested against the British National Party during her song “Fuck You”, urging the audience to use their votes against the political party.
But it was pop princess Lady GaGa, who by far staged the weirdest performance on day three, wearing a Jane Jetson-inspired dress, waving a Keytar around, and setting her tits on fire. Classy.
GaGa’s performance included an array of costume changes, which included donning a black bra which contained sparklers to create a flame effect from her breasts as she sang “Eh Eh”.
She also went into a spiel about how she listened to Iggy Pop topless at a festival once. Okay…
