The Flaming Lips are set to play Splendour in the Grass this weekend and what a better way to boost publicity for their mostly-sold out side shows by bringing hottie Karen O into their publicity trail.

Talking on Triple J this week, front man Wayne Coyne spilled the beans on how he got Karen O and MGMT on board the new album.

He said there was song they wrote that Karen O would be perfect for and they thought she would sing anyways , but due to touring commitments the only way they could get her vocals down was through a phone hook up.

It only took an hour to get the result that they wanted and the track was complete! Coyne said it was due to Dave Fridmann’s and his studio in New York where ‘he can do practically anything’.

The Flaming Lips set will be broadcast live from Splendour this weekend on Triple J and if you haven’t got tickets to see them the only ones left are in Melbourne and Sydney and available through ticketmaster.
