Dananananaykroyd Talk With My Vision TV
Events such as Splendour in the Grass are always ridden with hidden talents, and this year was no exception. Dananananaykroyd – though not so much a hidden talent per se – hit the stage at roughly midday on Sunday, and emerged as one of the most memorable acts of the entire weekend, even after the inevitable hangovers and temporary memory loss which go hand in hand with such music festivals.
The Glaswegians may have been incredibly jetlagged, yet they managed to pull off one of the most entertaining sets of all, especially considering the ‘wall of cuddles’ the band are so fond of. Even more impressive is that, despite their demanding schedule, the band made time to catch up with My Vision TV in Byron. We met up with Dananananaykroyd drummers John Baillie Junior and Paul Carlin just before Splendour kicked off, handing over the microphone and following the boys on their first tour of the beautiful town.
Their Scottish accents were captivating and their brazenness remarkable as the duo explained their unique name, described their impression of Byron and questioned passers-by. Though we didn’t have too long with the talented Glaswegians before they had to head back to the stage, they had us hooked with their Scottish charm and charisma.
Dananananaykroyd are still fairly new to the mainstream, having formed only in 2006. However the six piece - consisting of Paul, John, Calum Gunn, Ryan McGuinness, David Roy and Duncan Robertson – should prepare themselves for the big time as their records find their way onto radio stations around the world. Their music is infectious and the band is undeniably remarkable live, especially the dual drumming act which Paul and John have perfected to an effortless effect. Check out the footage of Paul and John hanging out with the My Vision TV crew, and see what happened when they were let loose in Byron.
