Paul Dempsey: man of the moment. If there’s one attribute we love to see in musicians, it’s their ability to keep it real whilst creating tokens of splendour. It’s the sign of a true artist – and Paul Dempsey is a natural.

Due to the release of his first solo album ‘Everything Is True’, which hit stores on August 14 nationwide, Paul has been hard to track down. After performing an exceptional set at Splendour in the Grass, it’s been a full scale promotional blast for Dempsey. However, Paul took the time this past weekend to sit down with the My Vision TV crew to talk about his first time going solo.

Though he’s no stranger to the spotlight – Paul’s first record deal came at the age of 17 as the lead singer/songwriter of Something For Kate – the solo thing is still relatively new. Having already established himself as a multi-talented musician and a gifted songwriter within a group, it’s now time for Dempsey to officially break away from the safety of ‘the band’ and re-enter the capricious, sometimes cruel music scene as a lone force. It’s a move which requires an edge, courage, talent, bravery and plenty of balls. Luckily, Dempsey has all of these things, yet he manages to remain one of the nicest people the My Vision crew have ever met.

Because he’s so nice, Paul treated us – which also means you – to a very special acoustic performance of ‘Out The Airlock’ and ‘Ramona Was A Waitress’. In all honesty, there’s something captivating about Dempsey from the second he walks into a room, whether it’s his cool, laid back nature or his sincerity, and from the second he opens his mouth to sing, there is simply no option but to fall in love with him.
