The Phenomenal Handclap Band join Sunset Sounds line up

Submitted by admin on October 12, 2009 – 12:14 pmNo Comment

Slick New Yorkers The Phenomenal Handclap Band have given Brisbanites the ultimate day of play, with news that they will jump on board the already awesome line up for January’s Sunset Sounds Festival.

With their laidback funk vibe, eclectic lyrics, and, of course, addictive hand clap beats, the quirky eight-piece will no doubt get everybody’s freak on with catchy hits like “15 to 20.”

The Phenomenal Handclap Band came to life within the dank spaces of the New York underground club scene. A fusion of pyschedelia, soul, disco and rock, founding members Daniel Collas and Sean Marquand’s shared desire to create a music that was a unique blend of their many influences but with a distinct flavour resulted in a stellar line up of indie gods and underground soul aficianados. A live set from these guys is therefore quite an experience, likened more to a “spritual church revival” than your everyday gig.

The Phenomenal Handclap Band will hit our shores very shortly. A ticket for one or all of the below dates is a must so that you can catch a definite highlight of this year’s festival season:

31 Dec 2009 Falls Festival, Lorne

1 Jan 2010 Field Day Festival, Sydney

2 Jan 2010 Corner Hotel, Melbourne

6 Jan 2010 Sunset Sounds Festival, Brisbane

7 Jan 2010 Manning Bar, Sydney

9 Jan 2010 Southbound Festival, Busselton

- Carley Hall
