There’s Wild Beasts in Australia!
Heading our way very soon for the Laneway Festivals, UK indie rock band WILD BEASTS will also be performing at a few sideshows around the country.
This band has come a long way since its beginnings in 2002 where a duo made up of Hayden Thorpe and Ben Little started things out under the name Fauve (the French term for wild beasts).
Since then they have added to their numbers with drummer Chris Talbot (known as Bert) and bassist Tom Fleming.
They renamed themselves ‘The Wild Beasts’ in January 2004 and in 2008 they released their debut album Limbo Panto.
Wild Beasts’ second album Two Dancers was released last year, earning high praise. The Sunday Times newspaper in the UK described it as “one of 2009’s indisputable masterpieces”, naming it Album of the Week and giving it a review of 5/5.
A review of the album on ClashMusic.com reads: “Affecting, audacious, captivating of fantastical flourishes, it’s an album to champion ‘til all superlatives are spent.”
Two Dancers is said to be an album full of references about booty calls, puckered lips, bodies as perfect machines, and dim-lit-streets.
Wild Beast’s album ‘Two Dancers’ out now, featuring ‘Hooting & Howling’, ‘All the King’s Men’ and ‘We Still Got The Taste Dancin’ On Our Tongues’
