Paul Dempsey: live and solo this April
The loveliest man on the Australian troubador scene (sorry Josh Pyke) is hitting the road again after killing it in 2009 with the release of his phenomenal debut solo album, melting hearts and attracting favorable criticism alike.
Paul Dempsey will take his Burning Leaves Tour around the nation this April following the release of latest single “Bats,” due out on February 26.
After stepping out from the dark and dirty rock surrounds of longtime Aussie rock stalwarts, Something For Kate, and into the glaring, solo spotlight under his own steam, Dempsey has unleashed something tender, humble and poignant for all to hear on Everything Is True, sending many a shiver down the backs of an eager new audience with tracks like “Out The Airlock” and “Ramona Was A Waitress.”
Dempsey also showcased his burgeoning versatility recently at Triple J’s Paul Kelly tribute Before Too Long at Melbourne’s Forum theatre, busting out a cracking rendition of “Dumb Things.”
It’s clear that Paul Dempsey has a few more aces up his sleeve and you would do well to catch him on his last leg of Australian shows before he rides out the remainder of 2010 in New York.
