Muse thank Rick Rubin for teaching them ‘how not to produce’
Muse have thanked heavy-weight producer Rick Rubin for teaching them “how not to produce” in their acceptance speech at this years Music Producers Guild Awards in the UK.
The Teignmouth trio scooped up the award for UK Single Of The Year for mega-hit “Uprising” at the gala, which also saw veteran producer Paul Epworth (Jack Penate, Friendly Fires, Florence & The Machine) take home the gong for UK Producer Of The Year.
Cheeky frontman Matt Bellamy made a slight on Rubin’s behalf to the exasperated audience.
“We produced something! I’d like to thank John Leckie for teaching us how to produce and Rick Rubin for teaching us how not to produce.”
Cue gasps and ‘ohhhs.’
“I thought you’d like that one.”
Meanwhile Dizzee Rascal claimed UK Album Of The Year for Tongue N Cheek, with Simian Mobile Disco taking out the Remixers Of The Year title.
Ironically, Rick Rubin won the International Producer award but was not present to collect it. Lucky for Mr Bellamy.
