Brandon Flowers’ mother loses fight with cancer
The Killers’ leading man Brandon Flowers’ mother has passed away, according to reports flowing in from across the globe.
Jean Flowers lost her two-year battle with brain cancer on February 11, reports the Las Vegas Journal Review. She is credited with leading her children towards music in her obituary.
Fans were in an uproar after The Killers cancelled their performances at the Good Vibrations festivals in Sydney and Perth due to “unforseen circumstances.” It’s understood that the shows were cancelled so that Flowers could rejoin his family back home in the US. There is as yet no word that their Gold Coast and Melbourne Good Vibrations slots will be cancelled.
Speculation into the band’s demise was rife after the cancellation of the aforementioned shows, with rumours flying that Flowers and co were taking an extending break. They soon squashed any doubt that they were breaking up with the following statement posted on their official website.
“The Killers would…like to take this opportunity to assure their fans that any concerns about the future of the band are unfounded. They are all looking forward to some time off at the end of this tour as they have been on the road for a long time, but there are no plans for an indefinite hiatus.”
