Jackson secures biggest contract in History
Michael Jackson’s estate has secured a record contract with Sony Music Entertainment, reportedly worth a monstrous $US200m. The contract guarantees seven projects over a ten-year period, including the release of an album expected November that contains unheard recordings by the famed superstar.
The deal marks the biggest in history of the record industry – rightly so, with who is unarguably the biggest star.
Since Jackson’s sudden death in June 2009, he has sold over 31 million albums and profits to his estate have quite literally exploded.
Jackson’s lawyer John Branca, who in part secured the deal, puts it best. “The remarkable thing is to make the biggest deal in history in a market with declining record sales,” he said.
“It’s a testament to Michael’s incredible talent and his music.”
For those who ever questioned the capabilities of a dead artist, think again.
